"Painting beyond limitations"

-MJ DuBarr

I didn’t think I would become a Makeup Artist, honestly it feels like makeup found me. Actually, I was working towards a career in the music industry. Playing with makeup with my sister or friends in high school was fun. Little did I know, the beauty world quickly became a powerful ambition during my cosmetology education in 2008.

Two months away from earning my license, I felt inspired to further my profession. So in 2010 I signed up for Make-up Designory’s Master Class learning the basics of beauty, airbrushing, camera makeup, and makeup effects. It has definitely been an exciting adventure improving my techniques along the way with the rewarding feeling of accomplishing looks and designs. Not to mention, working for Sephora, dry bar salons, and other beauty counters has led me to acquire the knowledge behind products and how to manipulate them. However since graduating makeup school, my passion is focused on makeup and hair for films, television, music videos and print. Currently I’m driven to become a full time freelance makeup artist.
